Pre-requisites
• Must have a Full NZ Drivers Licence- Manual preferred
• Current First Aid Certificate.
• Ability to roll a kayak.
• Guiding experience, and kayaking experience
• Friendly, positive attitude, must be a team player.
Waimarino Kayak Guides Job Description
Guiding
• Preparing all catering & equipment for the tour.
• Driving our customers & kayak trailer to and from tour departure site.
• Facilitating a professional, safe & enjoyable tour.
• Unpacking, cleaning, fixing, putting away all equipment
• Tidy and clean tour vehicles
Group Facilitator / Instructor
• Kayak instruction and supervision, launching and re-stowing of kayaks.
• Climbing instruction and supervision.
• Adventure park activities instruction and supervision.
• Wairoa River Tour (WRT) & Wairoa River Hop (WRH) Guiding.
• Facilitating or assisting in the facilitation of specialised courses. I.e.-team building, sea kayak courses, white water courses, etc.
• Facilitating Group Function requirements.
• Start up, and close down routines I.e. rubbish emptying, toilet cleaning.
Park Duties / Maintenance
• Start up and close down routines.
• Assisting with the routine cleaning & maintenance of the Adventure Park, and Adventure Park activities as required.
• Assisting with the routine maintenance of kayak and climbing equipment as required.
Locations- Tauranga and Rotorua
We offer Kayak Tours based out of Tauranga, but you will have the opportunity to guide tours based on Lake Rotoiti (Rotorua), Lake McLaren (Tauranga) and The Wairoa River Tour (Tauranga).
Seasonal Work
Our Season runs from mid October through until the end of April. Hours will vary throughout the season, at the start and nearer to the end of the Season there is less hours available as the business slows down. Through the peak period from November through until February there is plenty of work available and your hours will increase to 40+ hours a week. Here at Waimarino we work hard and may hay while the sun shines! We are open all public holidays and weekends, with the exception of Christmas Day, so be prepared to work over the holidays!
