FAQs
WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
You can see our full Terms and Conditions here.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
I HAVE NEVER KAYAKED BEFORE; WILL I BE OKAY TO JOIN?
We welcome people of all kayaking abilities on our tours. We suggest you look at the fitness scale on each of our tours and for first time kayakers or for non confident swimmers we would recommend our tours with a 1/5 or 2/5 rating.
CAN I BRING MY CAMERA?
You are welcome to bring a small camera on our tours at your own risk; we ask you not to use flash photography while in the Glowworm cave/canyon.
WHAT HAPPENS IF IT IS RAINING?
We operate rain or shine, in the event there is rain we will bring along a splash jacket to help keep you dry.
Our guides watch the weather closely to ensure they are only operating in safe weather conditions.
Waimarino reserve the right to cancel a tour due to unsafe weather conditions. In this event you will offered a postponement or a refund.
HOW DOES IT WORK IF WE HAVE AN ODD NUMBER OF PEOPLE IN OUR GROUP?
For safety reasons we only allow clients to paddle in double kayaks. If you have an odd number in your group the additional person will pair up with a member from another group or with the guide, depending on other bookings
WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
We recommend people wear comfortable clothing and no denim jeans, cotton hoodies or sweatshirts. A fleece top or similar for extra warmth is also recommended. Footwear recommended is shoes or sandals.
For tours that include a Hot Pools Pass please bring swimwear a towel and an extra warm layer to wear afterwards.
ARE THE TOURS SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN?
Some of our tours are suitable for children and others are not. Our Kanu Tours are suitable for any ages- including infants. Please advise ages when booking.
Are there weight restrictions?
We have a maximum weight per person of 150kg. Body shape and height can affect a person's comfortability in a kayak. If you are unsure of whether you can sit comfortably in a kayak please get in touch and our staff are happy to let you try a kayak out prior to booking.
Can I join a tour if I am Pregnant?
Kayaking can be a great way to stay active during pregnancy, as it is gentle exercise. If you are fit and healthy and haven't encountered any issues we would recommend partaking in on of our lower grade tours. Please note that our tours do operate in somewhat remote areas.
As always, you should consult with your GP or midwife prior to hitting the water.
