The Big Kanu
At Waimarino we operate two Big Kanu’s, one sits 12 people and the other 18 people. These Kanu’s are stable, high sided and suitable for people of all ages and abilities, we can take infants through to grandparents!
Each member of the Kanu has a paddle (optional if smaller child, infant or elderly), and everyone paddles together to move the Kanu efficiently through the water. If you are not a confident swimmer or it is your first time in a small boat or kayak, the Kanu is the perfect option for you, this larger sized boat is very stable and moves gently through the water.
The Tour Options
We offer Evening Kanu tours to visit the glowworms in both Rotorua and in Tauranga.
In Rotorua you will visit our secret glowworm cave which is only accessible via a small boat. In Tauranga you will paddle into the Managapapa Canyon which is located at the top end of Lake McLaren.
The Big Kanu is a great tour option for a family reunion, travelling with multiple generations, or to meet others vacationing in the same area!
